Online Video Platforms for Professional Media
出版日期:2013/08/15
Every day more and more video is viewed via the Internet. Content and service providers have taken note and are adding to the amount of video available. Some of that is user generated, YouTube now receives 100 hours of video uploads per minute, but more and more is professional video as well.
Online video platform (OVP) is the most commonly used term in relation to video management solutions for web video. However, the term online video platform is most often used for corporate video solutions. In order to differentiate, vendors targeting digital media providers have come up with a number of other terms to describe their platforms. That being the case, this report includes many of those, whatever they may be called, including content management platforms, media platforms, OTT platforms, etc. in addition to OVPs. Bear in mind, however, that this report only discusses OVPs for the digital media segment of the market or markets where the video is the product as opposed to markets where video is used as a communications tool about the product.
There is no one size fits all solution for content and service providers so there are many systems, many of which can be customized to individual customers’ needs. Additionally, third-parties can be brought in to integrate their products into a solution for a particular customer. Because of the system variation, there are a large number of vendors serving the OVP market.
The complexity of delivering to multiple screens with different resolutions, systems, and DRM schemes has led and will lead many media companies to an OVP for management of their online content delivery. While some of their customers may move to an in-house platform, there are new companies to take their place, particularly in developing markets in Latin America and Asia. In addition to new customers continually entering the market, the growth of online video will propel growth in OVP vendor revenue as many vendors are paid based on viewer usage, or video delivered.
In addition to discussing the vendors supplying OVPs, the report looks at the evolution of the OVP and forecasts vendor revenue growth.
